Joanna Lucero: Happy Feet!
11:00-12:15

"Every movement has a sound... even if it isn't audible." Express yourself like a hoofer! Explore the different "sounds" of solo jazz steps through rhythmic variations. Joanna will show you how "learned" solo step rhythm can match and compliment different parts of the music.
Carol Fraser: Wrap it Up
12:30-1:45

Are you intrigued with how the pros can wrap up their partner and then seamlessly roll right out of it and dance?   Ever wonder why the follower doesn't lose her neck when her leader ducks her under his leg?  Would you too like to learn the tricks of the wraps?  Then join Dave and Carol in learning about connection, framing, partnering and balance as they teach you some signature moves executed by the pros.
Lunch Break
1:45-2:45

Noelle Gray: Gray's Anatomy to Phrase Emphasis: Dance Like a Panther!
2:45-4:00

Learn when to pounce and when to hold back! Play with techniques that explore syncopation and height to reflect musicality and acknowledge the end of the phrase while enhancing the groove and flow of the partnership.
Damon Stone: From Kintae to Krump: The Black Aesthetic of Cool and Hot
4:15-5:30

This class will discuss and discover through solo and partnered movement the values of the Black communities that created Swing, Blues, and Jazz dance and how it brought together technique and artistry to influence not just contemporary American dance but our ideas of what is hot and cool.
